Generate Free Traffic Using Downline Building Programs

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Are traffic exchanges worth the time? Here is the short answer: It all depends! First, without going into too much detail, let me explain a little bit about what a traffic exchange is and how it works. The most common way to earn credits (and therefore traffic) via an exchange program is to surf through a rotation of web sites that are owned by other members. Most programs require you to login to your account and click a surf link to begin this process. All traffic exchanges also require you to view an ad for a certain length of time. All of them have timers that range anywhere from 10 - 30 seconds and in order to earn a credit you must let the timer expire to zero before you can click on the next ad. Most traffic exchanges are free with the option to upgrade to a paid version if you wish.

Now, I’ve heard all of the sob stories about how traffic exchanges don’t work because all they are is people clicking to earn credits and not actually taking the time to view the ads themselves. The other complaint is the fact that clicking on the ads is a time consuming task that people just aren’t willing to commit to. The fact is you don’t have to click all day, every day to generate a decent amount of traffic from traffic exchanges. You can learn a certain technique to leverage your time and make it more manageable. More about this later.

The Importance Of Building Downlines

Once you join a traffic exchange you are given a referral link to promote that particular program. The most important aspect about making your traffic exchange experience worth while is using that referral link to build downlines with these programs. I cannot stress this enough. The reason why this is so important is because once you have sponsored a few people you will also earn a percentage of the traffic they produce. If the downline eventually gets large enough you will find that you don’t have to surf at all because your downline is generating that traffic for you. This can increase website traffic exponentially.  Imagine what that will do for your Alexa ranking!

How Do I Build a Downline?

To maximize the amount of traffic you earn and to build decent downlines you will need to join quite a few traffic exchanges. The easiest and most effective way to do this is to join and promote downline building programs such as Vital Viral, Free Click Thru Club, Traffic Hoopla, Affiliate Funnel, Home Income Team, to name a few. These programs are set up so that when someone joins they will be exposed to all of the programs within that single downline building program. These can be very powerful tools because the idea is to promote the downline building program and not each traffic exchange individually.

Now, getting back to what I had mentioned earlier about using a “certain technique to leverage your time”. You’ve chosen your downline building program(s) and signed up for all of the traffic exchanges, now what? There is feature on Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla Firefox, and Crazy Browser referred to as tabbed browsing. The primary feature of this type of browser is the ability to open multiple web sites through a system of tabs that run along the top of your browser window. Unlike standard browsers that take you directly to a new window when it is opened, a tabbed browser allows you to continue viewing the current site while opening the new site in a separate tab. This way you’ll be able to open multiple traffic exchanges and surf them simultaneously!

You can read more about this incredible time saving feature by downloading this free 44 page report: Download It Now!

Spending a little time each day using traffic exchanges can effectively generate some free traffic for you. I am not trying to convince anyone that traffic exchanges and this system of using multiple exchanges is the magic bullet. But consider the upside: most of them are free to join and they provide free targeted traffic. And if you’re on a tight budget you may want to consider traffic exchanges as a part of your internet marketing advertising strategy.

Home Based Affiliate Business Program Start-Up Guide For Beginners

Copyright 2007 © Cynthia Minnaar

Are you all fired up and ready to start a home based affiliate business yet at the same time a little apprehensive and unsure of what lies ahead? This article contains some basic guidelines to help beginners get off to a smooth start.

When you have actually decided on the home based affiliate business that you would like to join the first step is to sign-up as an affiliate. The information requested from you on the affiliate business program sign-up forms differ from program to program. You may have already noticed that some programs request an awful lot of information whilst others request minimal information.

On the affiliate sign-up form you will be asked to give your name and email address. You will also be asked to choose a username and password. The username is a name that you would like to be known as while being an affiliate of the program and it will be used by you to login to your affiliate panel and sometimes used in your affiliate url. So choose a name that is easy to type and remember and usually it must be a minimum of 5 characters long.

When it comes to choosing your password, do not get confused and insert the password that you use to access your email account of the email address you have just provided. Choose a totally new password and type it all in small letters.

It is really important that you enter your email address correctly because more often than not the first thing that will happen is they will send an email to you requesting you to confirm that your email address is correct and that you did in fact request to be signed-up and agree to receive information from them.

You may see a note on the affiliate business program page asking you to white list their email address. This is to ensure that you do in fact receive the email they are going to send you. So you need to add their email address to your address book so that it will not be blocked by spam filters or end up in your spam folder.

The email you receive from the affiliate program may request you to click on a confirmation link. Once you click on the confirmation link then you should receive an introductory email containing your affiliate information, such as username, password, link to access the affiliate program, your affiliate url etc., etc.

Click on the link to access the affiliate section of your home based affiliate business, once it is open in your browser Bookmark it in your Favorites so that you have easy access to it in the future. So as to keep your Favorites well organized, you could prior to doing this create a folder in your Favorites called Affiliate Programs and then bookmark your first program in that folder.

To create a new folder click on Favorites on your horizontal menu above your browser window, click on Organize Favorites, click on New Folder and type in the name of your new folder, press Enter and then click on Close. Now open your Favorites sidebar (in Windows XP a star icon on the left of your screen or press Alt+C) and you will see your new folder.

Once you have accessed your affiliate back office it is a good idea to go to your Profile or Personal Information page just to check that the information you inserted on the sign-up page is correct and you will probably be requested to enter further information.

Most important is the information they require in order to pay you. If they are paying by cheque be sure that your postal address is 100% correct. If they are using a payment processor such as for example PayPay or AlertPay you will notice that they request an email address. This is how these two payment processors work, your email address is your account number. So you would then have to open an account at PayPay or AlertPay (or whatever processor they are using) and then return to this page and enter the email address that you used to open the account.

Some other payment processors do give you an actual account number, but you will normally be prompted on your profile page to enter an email address or account number so it is not easy to make a mistake.

You will receive regular emails from the home based affiliate business programs that you join, so it is also a good idea to open a folder in your email account with the name of the affiliate program and file them away which helps keep you organized so that you can easily locate them. Be sure to save the email you receive with your sign up information.

Now that the sign-up process is over you are now officially an affiliate and you have your own home based affiliate business. Congratulations! It is now time to get to work!

Explore your back office and spend time going through all the links so that you get a good understanding of the program and go through the training program that they provide. Study the marketing materials such as the web page for you to market, internet marketing methods they recommend, banners, text links, splash pages, examples of solo adverts, email ads and classified ads etc.

Some affiliate business programs will provide you with the name and contact details of your sponsor so don’t be afraid to contact them if you need assistance. Also you may well find that the affiliate program has a forum, if so, I highly recommend you spend time there as they are not only usually a gold mine of information but where you can ask questions and seek advice from other home based affiliate business owners.

If you are considering joining a number of home based affiliate programs in order to earn multiple streams of income, it would be a good idea to get your own domain and market them altogether on your own website. I wish you every success with your home based affiliate business.
